A Bit About...
Our Black Juniper Amaro combines three different juniper components: roasted juniper, basket juniper and fresh juniper, all steeped in neutral spirit and then hand-pressed to extract maximum flavour.
By heavily roasting the juniper we can extract dark and earthy characteristics from the berry, adding bitterness and a slight menthol note to the final product. Traditional alpine herbs such as gentian and wormwood develop bitterness and add length, creating layers of complexity.
Each ingredient has been selected not only for flavour but for its digestif properties, making it perfectly suited to the after-dinner occasion, drank neat, mixed with cola or in a cocktail.
Black Juniper Amaro is a collaboration between Black Pearl and Never Never Distilling Co. which set out to create a dark, bitter amaro that was built to suit the digestif profile. The word amaro is Italian for "bitter" and the best-known examples of the style hail from mainland Italy and Sicily.
